Daddy's Toolbox

It's the Friday before Father's Day and I am still working on a gift for Hubby. He loved the grill box that I made the other day and has been helping himself to the Hershey Almond/Caramel chocolates even though Father's Day isn't here yet. Thanks to LD's latest release, I now have another brand new box for him that I can give him on Sunday.

The first file in the Just Toolin Around Boxes is a little toolbox gift box. Just like the grill box, I decided to make it with foil paper except that this time I used a sheet that is red in color.

Initially I wanted to use brads to attach the smaller layers to the box but I didn't like that the prongs show up everywhere inside and so I decided to use snaps instead. I had bought some from a local store eons ago and had almost forgotten that I had them. They look just like rivets once they are attached to the toolbox. Love it!

By the way, on a side note, do you see that jumbo screw thingy that are in almost all of today's photos? It's actually not a real screw. It's a pen! I bought it from the University Bookstore here and I just love it so much I had to put it in all my pictures!

This toolbox is easy to make and I would say that the hardest part for me was attaching the snaps. Brads will be a lot easier to use if you don't mind that their prongs show up inside the box. I had to use my Crop-o-Dile to affix my snaps, and in those places where the Crop-o-Dile cannot reach, I used my manual eyelet setter/hammer. Still, I thought it was worth the trouble as I really like the look of them.

The finished toolbox is a little smaller than the grill gift box. When closed, it measures only 3.75" wide x 2.75" tall x 1.75" deep but it can hold plenty of chocolates, or in this case, plenty of .....

.....Kisses for Daddy! :)

  1. I love Lettering Delights cut files, where can I find how to assemble the 3D projects. For instance do you have any images of the back of the tool box? I'm trying to figure out how to put it all together.
