Hello Friend! Just a note.

Back in the Spring, I started playing with the stamps that I have collected and never used. I actually made today's cards then but I didn't get around to sharing them. Today feels like a good day to finally put them up on the blog. ;)

These cards are similar in style and are super easy to make. I stamped the background, let dry, and stamped and heat-embossed the greeting over it. To finish the cards, I adhered the colored image onto the card front with foam tape.

If you follow me on Instagram, you may notice that I had actually posted the cat when I was playing with my Copic markers. I still have not used the "Pusheen/Unicorn frappuccino" and the Panda cutouts but I probably should, eh?

Anyway, hope you like today's cards. The sun is out and it is finally getting warm outside. I'm off to bask in the sun.

Talk to y'all later!  Muah!

I am not affiliated with the stamp companies listed below but I do enjoy using their products a lot.

Stamps and dies used in today's cards are mostly by Mama Elephant
Brick background stamp by My Favorite Things
Dotted background stamps by Savvy Stamps. (bought from my local stamp store and I can't locate it online. Sorry!).

Hinterland Summer CP - Summer Fox

It's Summer!

I'm so happy that Summer is finally here. It feels like it has taken a long time for the season to get here. The temperature is still in the 60s today but I am so looking forward to warmer days.

Hubby came home from a business trip to Asia recently and he brought me a lot of crafting goodies. My Copics collection is now complete!!! So excited!! I really want to go play with my new markers but I had to make card from the new Hinterland-Summer first. The card projects in the collection are so much easy to put together! Just cut and assemble with foam tape for lots of dimension. That's it!

I love the whimsical look of the graphics in this line and I'd love to make all the cards in the card projects. But first, I'm going to play with my new markers.

Talk to y'all later!

Muah!

Life is Beautiful

I've been playing with my stamps and markers so much lately, I thought my Cameo might have gone into deep hibernation. We are 8 days away from the first day of Summer and it is still wet and cold here in Seattle. Alexa says that rain and fog is in today's forecast and temperatures will only reach a high of 60 degrees. Seriously?!

Anyway, I was looking at LD's latest release and I was so excited with their Get Your Float On, I just had to wake my Cameo up. It's been a while since I made a shaped card and that toucan cut file was simply perfect for one.

Using Silhouette Studio (DE), and the method that I illustrated in one of my earlier video tutorials, I made the (shaped) card base. I cut out and assembled the layers for the bird, and printed out the sentiment. The card didn't take long to make although I did spend most of the time trying to find the right cardstock for it.

I'm quite happy with how the card turned out. Frankly, it's hard not to like shaped cards. Every shaped card is different and it's a refreshing change from the same old square or rectangle cards. If you have not made one with your electronic cutter before, I hope you'll give it a try. If you need help, just check out this video tutorial.

That's all for now. I'll talk to y'all later!

Big Balloon

We are into the last few weeks of the school year and I have trying to declutter and organize as much as I can before summer break begins. The decluttering process is taking a much longer time than I expected. I keep finding things that I have forgotten. FUN things. You know, like metal dies and stamps? Yeah, these kind of things always make me stop and play a while.

To make today's card, I cut out one edge of a 4.25" x 11" piece of cardstock with the balloon edge die by My Favorite Things. I masked the back of the card base and colored the front with distress ink.

Next, I adhered a 4.25" x 5.5" piece of patterned paper under the balloon to make the card front.

The sentiment is made up of a cutout and a stamped part. You probably can't see it from the photo but "BIRTHDAY" was heat-embossed with Versamark ink and black embossing powder. The panda bear is from a Mama Elephant stamp set.

I'm not affiliated with either Mama Elephant or My Favorite Things but I do enjoy using their products. For those who want to know, I used my Sizzix Big Shot and the following dies and stamps:

panda: Pandamonium stamp set
"happy": Happy Script creative cuts (metal die)
"birthday": Happy Everything stamp set
balloon: Die-namics Blueprints 26 (metal die)

Have a great day!

Jin's Pusheen cards

So while I was at my local stamp store the other day, I came across one of Mama Elephant's latest releases. The Favor Bag Accessory (- Cat ) is a set of metal dies that you can use with a die cutter, like the Sizzix Big Shot, to cut out the different layers to make a cat. I had actually gone inside the store hoping to find the Bear version of the set but they were all sold out. Seeing that the store only had 1 last set of the Cat dies left, I grabbed them.

Guide re-posted here with permission.

At first, I was a little confused. I wasn't really sure what all the little parts that came in the set were for. Luckily Mama Elephant has put up a guide on their site that explained everything. The guide even included some ideas of what you can make with the set. I was thrilled!

Oh lookie! Mama Elephant shared my photo!

I was going to make some beige and orange cats with the dies when I noticed the Pusheen bluetooth speaker on my desk. OMG! Why didn't I think of it sooner? I can make Pusheen with these dies!

The first cards that I made with the set were these Pusheen shaped cards. Aren't they the cutest? I can use them as notecards and I'm going to slip one into my youngest daughter's lunch box.

Next, I made a simple Hello card. One can never have enough Hello cards. Especially one with a Pusheen on the front.

Actually, come to think of it, I seem to always run out of Birthday cards too. So I made a couple of those using the same idea as the Hello card. I just added a hat to the card and changed the greeting to "Happy Birthday". Easy peasy!

Although I enjoy using my Silhouette Cameo to make paper cutouts, these metal dies were very fun to use too. In fact, I enjoyed using these dies so much, I think I'm going to have to get the Bear and the Bunny versions. Hope I can make a panda out of one of them!

Happy Bees

Happy Friday!

The long weekend is upon us and I am so excited! After many months of cold and dreary weather, the unofficial start of Summer is finally here and we are expecting 80 degrees this weekend. Woohoo!

So if you don't mind, I'm going to keep this post short. :)

Have you seen LD's Emoji Bees? I thought they were hilarious! Today's cards were made using the Happy Bee but I can certainly use the others for many different occasions. How about using the Sad Bee for a Get Well or a I'm Sorry card? Or the Shocked Bee for a belated birthday card? What fun!

Speaking of fun, I used an Action Wobble on one of the cards to make the bee, well, wobble. It's been so long since I last used one of these springs, I forgot that it makes a card so much cuter!

I used Silhouette Studio to design the shaped card and I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the card base and the different layers. I used a metal die to cut out the "happy" and the "hello" greetings. The frame on the "hello" card was also cut out using a metal die.

Hope you like the cards. Now excuse me while I run out of the house, I have some sunshine to catch.

Have a GREAT weekend!

Claw-some Day!

Remember when I said in my previous post that I have been decluttering and that I had found a lot of unused stamps? I probably should stop buying new crafty toys until I finish reorganizing my craft room but I can't seem to do it. How can I stop when stamp companies like Lawn Fawn keeps coming up with the cutest stamps?

Just look at their newest release. A stamp set featuring a claw machine? Are you kidding me? It is so cute! How not to buy?

After posting my piggy shaker card on Instagram, a couple of you suggested that I get the Fuse Tool to help simplify the shaker-card-making process. And so I did.

I got my new toy last Saturday and I couldn't wait to try it out! The new "Claw-Some" Lawn Fawn stamp set was perfect for a shaker card.

Isn't this card the cutest? I *heart* it! The shaker portion was made using the Fuse tool and I must say, the Fuse is so easy to use! Even though I don't make shaker cards very often, I kinda wished I had bought the Fuse tool sooner. Who knows, perhaps I would have made even more shaker cards if I had it before.

I had set my Silhouette Cameo aside, thinking that I would spend some time cleaning up my craft room. Well, it looks like the clean up has to wait. I have more shaker cards to make. ;)

Hog Heaven

I've been on a huge de-cluttering kick lately and while reorganizing my crafty goodies, I was embarrassed to find so many stamps and metal dies that I never used. In an attempt to change that bad habit, I'm going to start using all the stamps that I buy. I think it'll also help me remember what I already own so that I don't accidentally buy them again in the future (True story, I've bought duplicates before. Yikes!).

The Hog Heaven stamp set is one of many that I have bought from My Favorite Things. It is so cute! Even though I own (and love) my Brother Scan-and-Cut machine that I use primarily to scan and cut out stamped images (see my post about the cutter HERE), I couldn't resist buying the metal dies that coordinate with the Hog Heaven stamps too.

I have a good size collection of Copic markers but I realize that I don't have the colors that I wanted to use for these piggies. I ended up using the ShinHan TOUCH markers that I bought while I was visiting Taipei last Summer. The colors were exactly what I needed. Yay!

I might have gotten a little carried away but I ended up with quite a lot of colored piggies. Here are a couple of cards that I made with them. All the stamps and metal dies are by My Favorite Things.

Hope you like them!

Sorry I'm a little latte...

So, due to some unforeseen forces of the universe, (IOW, I spaced out), we didn't get to hand a gift to the 5th Grade teacher last week during Teachers' Appreciation. I had already bought a gift card for him and my 5th Grader was supposed to make him a card. Since we were late, I decided to give the kiddo a little help in the re-design of her card.

Using Silhouette Studio (DE), this is what I came up with:

The turtle SVG originally came with a party hat and a present on its back. Since I was gifting a Starbucks giftcard, I replaced the present with a coffee cup and I also removed the party hat. The greeting was my 8th grader's idea. I had written "Sorry I'm a little late..." but she suggested that I replace "late" with "latte". I love it! What a fun word play!

I cut out all the layers twice and further simplified the card by not including the shadow layers. I wanted my kid to make the card herself and so I assembled one card and had her use it as a sample to make her own.

She did a GREAT job in putting together her card! She was excited to go to school this morning to give it to Mr. H.

I hope he likes his card and treat. Even though it's a little "latte"...

Tutti Frutti Goodies

I was super amused when LD released their Tutti Frutti collection two weeks ago. Those fruit babies are too cute! I wanted to cut out all the images in the cut set right away but I decided to do a print-and-cut simply because it was faster.

See what I mean? This set is seriously too kawaii! I can't get over how adorable the fruit babies are! As much as I enjoyed making these stickers, I really wanted to try out the cutting files. The pineapple caught my eye when I first saw the collection and so I easily decided that it would be the first SVG that I cut from that set.

The cuts may look rather complicated but they were actually quite easy to put together. I was pleased that it didn't take long at all to assemble and adhere all the layers together.

I had initially planned to make a card with a punny greeting ("I pine for you"? lol. ) but I ended up leaving out the sentiment. I think it looks better this way. By the way, in case you are wondering, the white stitched scalloped frame on the card front was cut out using two metal dies and my Sizzix Big Shot. I liked that it made the card look more interesting.

I also made a quick print-and-cut card with the Tutti Frutti Cut Set. Even though I had originally planned on printing out the background, I ended up using pre-bought patterned cardstock. I printed the greeting and print-and-cut the fruit babies.

I'm enjoying this cut set so much I intend to make some mini notecards (like the ones in THIS POST) and perhaps even a stationery set with them. With a collection of images that are so adorable, I bet that anything that is made with them will be just as cute if not cuter.
